Founders who experienced the problem firsthand. They built a first version because they needed it, not because a market map told them to. The best founders I've backed are the ones who are uniquely the right person to solve their specific problem.
I look for products that solve real pain and that customers genuinely love, not just tolerate. Novel ideas with strong fundamentals, where even if a bigger company built a competing version, customers would still choose the founder's product.
Sectors: AI/ML, biotech, hardware, aerospace, robotics, fintech. Open to anything if the founder and the problem are real.
Beyond capital
Technical architecture reviews from 10+ years of engineering experience.
Engineering hiring network across the startup and tech ecosystem.
Product feedback from an operator's perspective. I've built and shipped, not just funded.
What is AngelCheck?
AngelCheck is the deal analysis tool I built for my own investing workflow. It uses AI to surface strengths, key questions, and market context for any investment memo, cross-referenced against 4,600+ YC startups with known outcomes. I made it free because better analysis benefits everyone.
AngelCheck is not a fund, syndicate, or investor-matching platform. It's one person. There are no fees for founders, and I don't forward pitches to anyone without permission.
